Last Window Installed

I finally had the time to install the last window, one of two in the lounge. Becky was not here to help so I had to improvise, actually went in pretty nice. When I redo the exterior paint someday, I'll remove the windows and then reinstall to give it a clean look. Not sure when that will be as funds are pretty tight, it might be that way for a couple of years, who knows.

Now all I have to do to get ready for TBR is clean the bays, I have tools and stuff all over from my projects. I might even have some empty spaces! That will force me to get organized and maybe come up with some new ideas for "Down Under".

Now that the windows are in, I can finish the interior wood trim around them. I'm going to use oak stock trimmed to fit our design in the lounge, as that area still needs finished. Some oak sills in the bedroom and around the front frame to finish it off. When I do that I'm going to use the dead space area above the window and put some doors in. I had thought about doing that when I did the bedroom a few years ago, knowing that they would be redone. I didn't have the skills back then that I have acquired since. It will give us more storage for smaller items, which every square inch counts.

Texas Bus Roundup Is One Month From Now!

I am really looking forward to this one! We have several Flxibles, one Scenic Cruiser and the usual Eagles, MCI's and GMC's. This looks to be our biggest gathering so far. I'm planning on 20 or more coaches, at this rate I think the number will be higher. A lot of pictures will be taken to share with those interested.

The Eagle Rally is this week in Kansas, can't attend this one because of my school schedule and the most important reason, lack of moolah. We really wanted to go, this bunch of busnuts really knows how to have a good time with lots to eat and do. Of course the usual adult beverage does appear to flow pretty well. Hey, we can't help it when we get thirsty! LOL

At least it stopped raining, we received over 3" this past weekend. It's supposed to be dry for the next few days. I'll try and get the last window installed this coming weekend. I have lots of studying to do between now and then.

Installed First Window In Lounge Area

I'm not going to post a picture, it looks like the first one. It stated raining yesterday, lightly all night, and has been raining all day. This is very unusual for the area, we do need the rain as there are a lot of counties that are very dry.

I deployed the awning to keep the rain off me while I was working removing the old window and prepping the opening. I painted the new window frame earlier in the day and needed to let it cure, which I didn't think would happen with all the humidity. I finished around 6 pm tonight. At least the weather is cooler and the ability to open a window for ventilation feels great.

I hope to get the last one installed in the lounge on the driver side tomorrow. The rain is supposed to diminish, so that will be good as we have no way to cover that window.

Life is great!

Labor Day Fun

I prepped the other bedroom window yesterday by cleaning and painting the frame. Cut the required pressure treated material for spacing of the trim ring and the piece the frame sits on. I thought I would get it installed, but other things popped up.
We went to lunch with a few of Becky's high school chums and then went over to one of their houses for some chat. He is a retired school teacher and as a hobby, does metal art work. He is very talented and just has fun with it. So by the time we got back home it was too late and it looked like it would rain anyway.

Today I finished the job, we now have both windows installed so we can open them up at night and get some cool fresh air. It has been getting down into the mid 60's at night, so we will be able to conserve on our electric bill.

I'm back to school tomorrow then hopefully this coming weekend I can get the other two windows installed in our Lounge area.

I am very impressed with the Hehr window design, very heavy duty frame, good latch and a quality fit and finish. We couldn't be happier with the purchase!

Another good day!

Bedroom Window Install

I installed the first of four double pane insulated windows today in the bedroom. I was real nervous as dark clouds started to appear, but I made it! We are very happy with the result. I still need to trim the caulk, will do that later. The width was a perfect fit, the height of the rough opening was about 3/4" taller than the window. I used some pressure treated material to fill the gap. I installed a strip of butyl caulk tape on the window frame first before installation.

Quilt for John and Tami Rigby

Here is the quilt that Becky made for John and Tami Rigby. Isn't it gorgeous!

She finished it one day before we found out they were heading right through Abilene, how's that for timing!

Our New Windows Arrived

Our new to us Hehr double pane insulated windows arrived today. They have been on a remarkable journey. A good Bus Nut friend bought them for us at Bontragers then took them to his house. I found out another Bus Nut friend was heading from Houston to Bontragers to sort through their RV Surplus. That's when I started making the arrangements to get them to us. John and Tami Rigby picked up the windows, headed to Phoenix AZ for some business. I got a phone call the other day that John and Tami would be driving right through Abilene on their way to Dallas.
All four of them arrived without one chip or broken panel! Amazing huh!

A big Thanks to Cody, John and Tami Rigby for the delivery!

I'm excited about getting them installed, I just need some cooler weather and the time, of which I don't have much of right now. They came with screens and the inside beauty rings. A little cleaning up, some paint repair on the outside frames, then the installation.

Becky made a gorgeous quilt for the Rigbys to show our appreciation for their efforts!
